May is National Physiotherapy Month
/Physiotherapists are specialists in human movement, and anatomy of the muscles, bones, ligaments, and tendons. They use their clinical skills to assess, diagnose, and treat symptoms caused by injury, illness, and disability. Physiotherapists focus on both prevention and rehabilitation.
Some examples of symptoms treated include:
Neck and back pain secondary to tension in the muscles, or stiffness of the joints
Low back pain secondary to arthritis or disc injuries
Ankle and knee pain secondary to a quick twisting, rolling or pivoting motion
Loss of function and mobility secondary to trauma to the spine or joints, such as motor vehicle accidents
Tendonitis or muscle strains, secondary to repetitive overuse
Pain, swelling, stiffness, muscle weakness and/or loss of mobility secondary to injury or disease
Pelvic issues, such as pelvic pain, bladder or bowel problems
In your initial assessment, the Physiotherapist will ask questions pertaining to your symptoms and past medical history, assess and diagnose your condition, establish a treatment plan specific to your goals, and prescribe exercises over the course of your treatment.
Physiotherapy sessions are covered under most insurance plans. It is important to check with your insurance company by phone or on their website prior to attending your first session. Our clinic also offers direct billing to make your payments easier!
